In the gaze of a second

Year 4 students of the Creative Writing and Film Arts programme—Leung Tak Yip, Yeung Lap Zhing Hugo, Tse Tsz Man Terry, and Chu Ching Man Chris—have garnered multiple awards in international film competitions, including Best Student Feature Film at the Montelupo Fiorentino International Independent Film Festival and the Liverpool Indie Awards in 2024, as well as Best Feature Film at the Ukrainian Dream Film Festival and the Couch Film Festival in 2023. They also received accolades for Best Actor at the Couch Film Festival, Best Indie Feature Film at the Costa Brava Film Festival, and Best Student Film at the Indie Cine Tube Awards in 2023. Additionally, they were recognized as Young Filmmakers (Under 25) at the Phare International Film Festival in Mauritius and received an Honourable Mention at the ARFF Berlin Around Films International Film Festival in 2023.

“In the gaze of a second” follows the journey of a boy who, after transferring to a new school, meets a visually impaired girl with a deep passion for photography. Unfortunately, the girl faces a tragic event that leads her to take her own life, leaving the boy heartbroken. Years later, he receives a photograph she left behind, prompting him to confront his past and search for a new direction in life.
