Eight Flavors of Life II is a meaningful student community engagement project that promotes cross-generational integration by recording the life stories of elderly participants. In partnership with the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Lok Man Alice Kwok Integrated Service Centre, the “Meeting Us” Elderly Caring Student Team of the Me&U Community Caring Programme served as reporters, interviewing 10 seniors to collect their cherished family recipes and the stories behind them.
Organized around the themes of “Love”, “Reunion”, and “Perseverance”, the cookbook presents 8 home-style dishes that reflect different life journeys and attitudes. After 6 months of training and dedicated service, the cookbook was completed. One featured dish, “Chinese Cabbage and Pork Dumplings,” was transformed into an intergenerational game called “Dumpling Party”, showcased at the April 2026 launch event. Seniors, families, and neighbours gathered to celebrate, strengthening cross-generational bonds. Participants expressed heartfelt gratitude and praised the programme as meaningful and well organized, helping the elderly rediscover their value and serving as an exemplary model of intergenerational inclusion.
