作品名為《缶刀平生》,有兩層涵義:一是表達我對吳昌碩先生的敬仰與學習;二是說我自己以刻刀代筆,在方寸印章間寄託情感,投入創作的生活寫照。吳昌碩大師印章風格最寶貴之處,在於他能將古與今的精華融為一體,將書法的韻味融入刻印,使刀痕如筆跡般生動自然。我學習他的方法,特別重視印章中的「氣勢」與「動感」。
這六方印的文字內容各具意義:
「心畫」:意調篆刻是將心裡的想法描繪出來,是心聲的表達。刀與石碰撞,正是心跡的留痕。我以盡量簡練的線條,追求內在的力度感。
「剛柔相濟」:這是吳昌碩先生藝術思想的核心。此印的佈局既有方正剛強的骨架,又有圓潤流轉的姿態,線條剛健有力,卻又蘊含柔美。
「初會便已許平生」:我將其刻於印上,透過字與字間的安排,體現相互呼應、流暢的感覺,並以刀痕的深淺變化,寄託那份一見傾心、此生相許的篤定情感。
「海棠漸瘦」:此意境取自李清照婉約的詞風,但我未用纖細精巧的方式表現,反而以有力的刀法,追求吳昌碩畫花那種既古老又綺麗、既粗獷又含蓄的韻味。
「羌笛三千里」與「胡笳十八拍」:二者表達了古代邊塞詩歌蒼涼、遼闊的意境。佈局上盡量開闊疏朗,線條刻得如過關風沙般,試圖以刀石模擬胡笳和羌笛樂聲的悲壯,令人彷彿在印章中聽見古老的韻味。
The work is named "A Lifetime of a Blade", including two layers of meaning: one is to express my admiration and learning from Mr. Wu Changshuo; the second is a portrayal of my own life where I use a chisel as a pen, entrusting emotions and engaging in creation within the small space of a seal. The most precious aspect of Master Wu Changshuo's seal style lies in his ability to integrate the essence of the past and the present, infusing the charm of calligraphy into the engraving, making the knife marks as vivid and natural as handwriting. I learned from his approach and placed particular emphasis on the "momentum" and "dynamism" in the seals.
The inscriptions on these six seals each have their own meanings:
"Heart Painting": It means that seal engraving is to depict the thoughts in one's heart and is an expression of one's inner voice. The collision of a knife and a stone is precisely the trace left by the heart. I pursue an inner sense of strength with as concise lines as possible.
"Combining hardness and softness": This is the core of Wu Changshuo's artistic thought. The layout of this seal features both a square and strong framework as well as a smooth and flowing posture. The lines are vigorous and powerful, yet also contain a touch of grace.
"From our first met, I promised a lifetime": I engraved it on the seal. Through the arrangement of the characters, I expressed the feeling of mutual response and flow. And with the variations in the depth of the knife marks, I conveyed that unwavering love at first sight and a lifelong commitment.
The phrase "The crabapple blossoms are gradually thinning": This artistic conception is taken from Li Qingzhao's gentle and refined poetic style, but I did not express it in a delicate and exquisite way. Instead, I pursued the ancient yet beautiful, bold yet reserved charm of Wu Changshuo's flower paintings with powerful brushstrokes.
"Three Thousand miles of Qiang Flute" and "Eighteen Tunes of Hu Jia": Both express the desolate and vast artistic realm of ancient frontier poetry. The layout is as open and spacious as possible, with lines carved like the wind and sand at the border. It attempts to simulate the tragic music of the Huqin and Qiang flute with knives and stones, making people feel as if they can hear the ancient charm in the seal.
