In Hong Kong, over one million people have to commute across districts for work or school every day. Additionally, issues related to infrastructure lead to traffic congestion, further lengthening the commuting time. On average, cross-district commuters need at least 2.5 hours of daily transportation time. Due to the limited space available during transportation, the activities they can do while commuting are limited, and they wake up earlier and return home later than others. It's as if they have two fewer hours each day compared to others.
This work is divided into two parts. The first part reassembles and presents the "vanished two hours." The second part focuses on the daily lives of cross-district commuters, using visuals to depict their disappearing "two hours." All data and information in the work are derived from survey results. The data are provided by real-life cross-district commuters, ensuring an authentic representation.
