Mobile Softee was originally known as Mister Softee and changed its name in the 2010s. The brand, a historic icon of Hong Kong, features a mobile ice cream truck with a distinctive white, red and blue design that plays the music box-style melody "The Blue Danube".
The company was founded by Ted Drew, Ho Ging Yuen and Tong Hok Yuen after they travelled to England in the 1970s, where they introduced the ice cream truck concept to Hong Kong and acquired the franchise rights in the 1970s.
In 1978, the government stopped issuing licenses to mobile vendors, so today there are only 24 licensed ice cream trucks left.
